How are you to the Lord's Annointed?

I have been taking my sweet time with reading through 1st Samuel. I am amazed at how David was so gracious to a man that was so set on harming him. David would respond with I can not lay a hand on the Lord's annointed (1st Samuel 26:9). I think and think how David had a couple of opportunities to end the chase for his life and end the struggle all he had to do was kill Saul and it would be over. But he always had trusted the Lord through these trials. In chapter 26 we see that he said, "The Lord forbid that I should put out my hand against the Lord's annointed." "As the Lord lives, the Lord will strike him." David made this a God battle and not his own battler.

We are going through 1st John on Sunday mornings and I thought it was interesting that I am reading these different passages that can go hand in hand but John wites a couple of times through the whole book that If anyone sasy, "I love God," and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen cannot love God whom he has not seen (1st John 4:20). " Who is my brother and who is my enemy. Do I show love to these people. We could look at this and say you mean your family or other believers, but how about those that are above me or even my enemies. We know that God allows certain people to be over us. How am I to those people? This love that John is talking about, David had love by letting it be God's battle. Sure David fled for his life, and I bet he wanted to just end the pursuit and not have to worry about it anymore. He could have said, "Man, I should not have to flee for my own life from a fellow countryman but he did. He also could have said, "I am the new king, I am annointed." Even David's followers probably wanted it to end too but David showed love by being gracious. He knew it would happen again and again but he let God take care of this.

Do you show love towards the Lord's annoited even when you do not agree with everyting or that maybe they are in sin? Do you pray for those that the Lord has put over you, a boss maybe, or teacher? Do you have an attitude or disregard everything he or she says because you don't like it. Maybe they make your life miserable and you just can't stand it. No one has ever seen God; if love we love one another, God abides in us and his love is perfected in us (1st John 4:12). We are an example of who and what God did for us by showing his love.
