When Alyssa and I are going to go on a trip we usually try to write a list on what we need to pack. We do this so we can be prepared for our journey. I remember when I was going to go to Cambodia for a few months I had a big list that I had to pack because I needed to be prepared for what my journey consisted of. There were elements in that country that I needed to be ready for that I normally would not need to be.
How much more are you prepared to defend the Gospel. Most of the time we can easily make excuses like let the pastor do it, it is his job. He went to school for it. So in so knows more than me. I am just too busy with life. All of these are excuses that we may go through just because we do not have the self-discipline as well as desire to show ourselves approved.
2nd Timothy 2:15 says, "Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth."
Everyone who is a child of God has been given responsibilty with the word of truth. Are you approved? How do you handle God's word? How do you present yourself? We should never think we know it all, especially when it comes to Scripture but we do our best to present ourselves as one approved unto the Lord. I am guilty to say that I know I do not always handle God's word responsibly. I should be one who desires to know more and more about who God is and what are His characteristics. That is what the Bible does it reveals who He is and His love for His creation which is us.
Dear God,
Forgive us who and when we do not handle your word of truth the right way. We have no need to be ashamed. In your word alone is our foundation which is from you. I pray that we can handle your word responsibly and with great confidence that it will stand through time. We look forward to your return. I pray for a desire among us and your word that it would consume us and that we would pant after your word. Thank you for your word which directs us to Christ as our Savior and our King, without that we would be lost
Amen
